If you’re crafty and have been thinking about selling your creations, choosing the right projects is key. For example, if you can knit or crochet, making blankets or socks is a great idea but each project takes a lot of time, and there’s the danger that you may not get what the items are really worth when you try to sell them.
When trying to make and sell crafts from home, there are a lot of projects that are quick and easy to make in bulk yet look like you spent a lot of time on them. The key is to find something that your customers will love that they wouldn’t necessarily think to make for themselves.
We know that’s easier said than done which is why we put together this list of 20 amazing projects to help you become a crafty entrepreneur. Each of these items is relatively easy to make, and most of them can be customized and made into something special for your customers.
There are a lot of great ideas here but don’t feel you have to try all of them! Choose one or two that fit with your brand and start there. Once you’re up and running, add a few new items to keep your customers coming back for more.

Super Hero Magnets
This project from Crafts by Amanda is a perfect example of an idea that you can take in any direction you want. These super hero magnets are absolutely adorable, but you can very easily use pretty scrapbooking paper or wrapping paper and create a completely different look.
Don’t stop there; you can also add other embellishments like beads, glitter, and fun trim to really create a one of a kind design.
Felt Envelopes
We absolutely love these small felt envelopes from Probably Actually. While the original project has a Valentine’s Day theme, you could very easily make this into a birthday or Christmas project just by changing the color scheme.
This project is perfect for selling from home. It’s handmade and looks adorable but, at its core, it’s a very simple project. It’s all about the customization which is an easy way to add multiple products to your shop.
Triangle Pouch
One of the things that we love about this triangle pouch project from A Spoonful of Sugar Designs is that you only need minimal sewing machine skills. This is a great project for using up scraps of fabric, and each one looks completely unique when done.
Something to keep in mind is the right zipper makes all the difference. Since you’re using fabric scraps, invest in some better quality zippers for rave reviews from customers.
Handmade Pacifier Clips
Fewer things are more lucrative than handmade baby products, and these handmade pacifier clips from Viva Veltoro are too cute. You can see from the link how this project has a completely different look depending on what colors and patterns you use.
This is another example of a simple idea that can be tailored to fit the tastes of different customers. Try using a wide range of fabrics and patterns like sports teams, local school spirit colors, bright stripes, and even natural materials to appeal to the most people possible.
Washable and Reusable Bowl Covers
Michelle over at the Gracious Wife has this great project for making washable and reusable bowl covers. This is an awesome item to make and sell from home because it’s simple to make and sustainable products are becoming more and more popular.
This project lets you have a lot of fun, too. Choose different fabric combinations to build sets to cover bowls or different sizes. You can even offer optional customization or let customers choose the fabrics.
Lemon and Peppercorn Body Scrub Bars
Caroline over at Burkatron has this wonderful project for lemon and peppercorn body scrub bars that are simple to make and have that rustic, handmade, all-natural look that’s so popular these days.
Whether you’re looking for a new addition to your body scrub line or want a cool recipe to get started experimenting with, this one is a great choice. It looks awesome, and the smell is amazing.
Etched Cutting Boards
We love this idea from Design Mom. It’s a basic project that you can alter and personalize in so many ways which makes it a great addition to your shop. As you can see from the link, the possibilities really are endless.
Try making clean doodles or fun borders for simpler designs that look amazing. This is also a great product to open up to personalization so your customers can request a word or phrase that they love.
Dremel Carved Rocks
Ashley over at Lil Boo Blue has this amazing project that’s easy to do but makes a huge impact. You’ll need to invest in a Dremel for this project, but if you love this project idea, you’ll definitely get a lot of use out of it.
You can do a lot of things with these rocks. Large ones make great garden decorations while smaller one can be used to make jewelry or keychains.
Pinecone Firestarters
There are a few reasons why we love this pinecone firestarter project from Something Turquoise. You can customize the colors to different events and, like Jen points out, they’re a great favor for a winter wedding. They’re really easy to make in bulk and, if you collect your own pinecones, they’re very cost effective.
Another great thing about them is they’re practical but not something that people are likely to make for themselves. That means they’re more likely to sell.
Hand Sanitizer Jacket
So many people carry around small, travel-sized bottles of hand sanitizers hanging off of their purses and backpacks. They’re practical but not exactly cute. That’s where this adorable hand sanitizer jacket from the Inspired Wren comes in.
One of the reasons we love this idea is because you can easily customize it to suit just about anyone. The design in the example is classy and feminine, but you could easily make this to represent colors from local sports teams or use fabric with favorite characters and logos.
DIY Bath Bombs
Bath bombs are all the rage right now, and a great recipe with the right branding can really get your business started. Lorann has a good recipe for creating interesting tie-dyed bath bombs that stand out against the competition.
Remember, you can use any essential oil scent, so this is a great way to have a product line that offers different varieties from the same base ingredients.
Data Cable Organizer Keychain
Minted Strawberry has this great design for a data cable organizer keychain that we love. This is another project that only requires basic sewing but can be customized in so many different ways. Try leatherette or felt as Aki did or experiment with your own fabrics and materials.
One reason that this is such a great idea is that it’s something everyone needs but most people don’t think about. Everyone gets annoyed when their charging cables get twisted, tangled, or even lost so this is something a lot of people will see the value of.
Tassled Necklace
Kim over at Made in a Day tells you everything you need to know about these beautiful tasseled necklaces, a very popular style. We love how you can use this one technique to create so many different one-of-a-kind pieces to sell.
One thing that really stands out about this design is having a large central bead or beads above the tassel. You can increase the value of a necklace like this by using higher-quality materials for these focal points and more traditional beads for the rest of the design.
Colored Pencil Coasters
Crafts Unleashed has this really awesome project to create some of the most interesting coasters we’ve seen. There’s a lot to love about this one, but one of the best things is that you only have to prep once to make multiple items.
You can buy new pencils, but this is a great opportunity to upcycle old art supplies. Make your pencil coasters multi-colored like the example or try different shades of the same color for a more uniform look. While it’s not required, sealing it when you’re finished will make each coaster last longer.
Oversized Sleep Mask
So, Sew Easy has this simple sleep mask project that takes some sewing skills but looks really awesome when it’s finished. This is a great thing to make and sell because it’s the kind of thing that people never think to make for themselves.
These masks are a great project because you can easily customize them by adding names to the front or using different fabrics to create a wide range of looks. They would make great gifts for Mother’s Day or can be packaged as a set for a wedding party as gifts for the bride and her bridesmaids.
Crochet Cup Cozy
While this project does require some crocheting skills, the stitches are all pretty basic, so it’s a suitable project for beginners. The link shows an adorable rainbow pattern, but you can use any yarn you want for this project.
This is a great project because it’s truly handmade but isn’t as daunting as a larger crochet project like an afghan or blanket. If you’re trying to sell crafts from home, high-quality options that can be made relatively quickly like this one is ideal.
Key Chain Lip Balm Holder
This design over at Crazy Little Projects is one of those perfect little items that everyone will look at and think, “why didn’t I think of that?” Anyone who continually loses their lip balm will love this little item.
Like all fabric items, you can customize this one with different patterns and prints. If you feel like adding even more options for your customers, you can easily embroider their name onto the back.
Pom-Pom Bookmarks
Design Mom has this really simple project that would make a great addition to any boutique. These pom-pom bookmarks are super easy to make and a great way to work through your yarn stash. You can personalize these with different colors of yarn or even add a charm embellishment to the bottom.
These bookmarks can usually be made pretty quickly. You can create different themed designs and bundle them together as a cute gift item that any reader is sure to love.
Ribbon Bookmarks
Christie from Sparkles of Sunshine has this awesome twist on bookmarks that readers are going to love. These ribbon bookmarks have a unique look that you can customize with different fabrics, patterns, and buttons.
We love the bright, colorful designs on the link, but you could very easily make these bookmarks a little more understated for a clean look. Use white, cream, or metallic ribbon and jeweled buttons if you want to create a whole new look.
Hand Warmers
Rae Ann Kelly came up with this simple design for hand warmers that is just too adorable not to share. What we love about them is that they’re practical and very useful, but they also look so cute that they’d be hard for shoppers to pass up.
You can stick with a winter theme like Rae did or choose different fabrics to suit different customers. This is a great item to market to sports fans who might be attending a football or hockey game in the cold winter months, so team colors and logos are a great pattern choice.
Put Your Craft Skills to Use
There are a lot of great ideas here to get you started. Choose the ones that inspire you the most and adapt them to better fit your customer base or brand to create a product that’s sure to sell.
Remember, you don’t have to make them all. Start your business with a few core items to get you up and running and then expand your product line once you get your business off the ground. People love handmade gifts but don’t always have the time or talent to make something themselves. That’s where you come in. Make the right projects in the right way, and you’ll really be in business.
